Striking workers from the residences in Bilbao on Saturday demanded that the Provincial Council of Bizkaia “make less propaganda and carry out concrete actions such as the renewal of the agreementto close the pay gap they suffer”.
The employees of this sector, who maintain a strike called by ELAhave once again mobilized in the streets of Bilbao to denounce the “blockade” caused by their agreement and have recalled that they have already strike for more than 30 days.
The march started at 10:45 am from Calle Juan de Garay and ended in front of the steps of Bilbao City Hall.
During the demonstration, ELA representative Ainhoa Tirapu has criticized that when the employers are the institutions and there is working conditions for women“labor disputes demand an awful lot”.
Tirapu has indicated that with this mobilization he has denounced the workers “hypocrisy” of the institutionsin this case from the Provincial Council of Bizkaia, “whose mouths are overflowing saying that women’s pay gap must be closed”.
“If these women, like those in residencies, fight to end this scourge, conflicts continue remarkable. And that is the direct responsibility of the public institution,” he added.
Likewise, he has indicated that staff have also ensured that the decision to privatize the housing units is “political and has serious consequences for employees and users”. In addition, he remembered that the ultimate goal of his fight is “publication houses”.
