On Monday night, police officers in Vienna-Neubau became aware of a loud bang after three boys (12, 13 and 15) blew up a cigarette machine with illegal fireworks.
Buying cigarettes in Austria is only allowed from the age of 18. However, that did not stop the three youths from getting cigarettes. So they blew up a tobacconist’s vending machine with illegal fireworks.
Stopped by police
However, they did not expect police officers to be on patrol at the same time and therefore could not ignore the loud bang. The three suspects were apprehended a short time later near the crime scene.
The 13-year-old was carrying a firearm
If that wasn’t enough, police were also able to secure a prohibited weapon, a stun gun disguised as a flashlight, and a cell phone reported stolen from the 13-year-old.
After further investigation, officers found that all three had been reported missing. The three were returned to their care facilities and reported. A parked car near the cigarette machine was also damaged in the incident.
