Spanish wine stands at the gala in Barcelona. For three days, around 650 Spanish wineries will meet the second edition of Barcelona Wine Week (BWW), one of the most important wine events in Spain.

With just a few days left before the start, this exhibition has reached full occupancy to showcase the best Spanish wine at the 8th Palais de Fira de Barcelona in Montjuïc. BWW will make national wines even more widely known abroad, facilitate business creation and facilitate exports. Through the Hosted Buyers program, nearly 350 international buyers were invited from 52 countries, mostly from Europe, Latin America, and North America. In total, about 4,000 workshops are expected. For example, the moneu grape, rediscovered by Bodega Torres five years ago when he was able to make wine from the first crop, is a ancestral red grape harvested more than 20 years ago from the Kverol area of ​​Tarragona.

It is Mireia Torres, director of Innovation and Knowledge of the Familia Torres, and Sergi Castro, sommelier of the same winery, who will talk about the presentation and tasting of local varieties as a solution for future viticulture.

François Chartier at the market first explains in detail how the landscape’s biodiversity affects the aroma of the wine. Chartier is one of the greatest experts on harmonies and flavors, he is also the President of Chartier World LAB Barcelona (a center that promotes teaching, research and university transfers in the field of gastronomy).

Wine and sustainability

From April 1 to 8, the BWW Likes the City will feature a street-based exhibition featuring a variety of restaurants, hotels and specialty shops in Barcelona.
