Several people have been killed and injured in a Russian drone strike near Kiev. Images of heavily damaged buildings and debris have been posted on social media. A dormitory of a vocational school was hit, among other things.
At least three people have been killed, according to the Ukrainian military administration. About 20 injured people have been taken to hospital. Four more people were suspected under the rubble of the home, it said. The information could not be independently verified.
Drones destroyed by both sides
The attack was allegedly carried out with drones. The Ukrainian military administration stated that eight were shot in Kiev. In Crimea, Governor Mikhail Rasvozhayev said three Ukrainian drones had been shot down. Both the air force and the sailors of the Black Sea Fleet fired on it in the port city of Sevastopol. No one was injured in the incident. However, the blast wave from the explosions shattered windows in several buildings.
“Warships were not hit,” the governor said. Ferry services around the city have been suspended. The Ukrainian side had previously announced several times that it would liberate Crimea, which was annexed in 2014, from Russian occupation. In different parts there are always incidents with drones, some with serious damage, injuries and deaths. The Russian side sees this as an argument for significantly increasing the military effort for defence.
