An accident took place in Deutschlandsberg in Styria on Saturday afternoon: while turning, a 78-year-old driver collided with a 62-year-old. Both those involved and a passenger had to be taken immediately to hospital.
It was around 3.45 pm when a 62-year-old from Deutschlandsberg drove his car along the L 606 towards Frauental. What he didn’t expect: at an intersection in Wildbach, a 78-year-old driver turned into his lane. An accident occurred: the 78-year-old was thrown into the ditch with his car.
Three people were taken to hospital
Emergency services, police and fire brigade quickly arrived on scene. Both the people involved in the accident and a passenger were taken to LKH Weststeiermark (Deutschsberg location). While the 62-year-old was unhurt, the 78-year-old suffered serious injuries and had to be hospitalized.
The Wildbach volunteer fire brigade was present with four vehicles and fourteen men and had to free the injured from the cars. To recover the vehicles, the L 606 had to be temporarily closed. Neither driver was drunk at the time of the accident.
