The alarm was raised at around 6:15 p.m. on Monday: a caller informed the responsible rescue services that gas had escaped in a residential complex in Hard. They were immediately on scene and noticed an intense smell of gas as soon as they arrived.
After consultation with the manager of the Hard fire brigade, all residents had to leave the apartment building. The Floriani disciples then went to the facility’s underground parking garage to look for the source of the gas leak. It soon became clear that carbon monoxide had escaped. An employee of “illwerke vkw” was informed, and moments later he closed all gas pipes in the house.
The entire underground car park was ventilated by means of fans. The emergency services have also checked whether the carbon monoxide value has increased in any of the apartments. Only then were the residents allowed to return to their homes. The emergency services also contacted “Vorarlberger Energienetze GmbH” (VEG) to inspect all gas pipes for defects.
