On Friday night, the fire brigade was alerted to a fire near the Mautner-Markhof factory in Vienna-Simmering. Three burning cars had to be extinguished by the helpers.
Witnesses saw high plumes of smoke above the roofs in the Rappbachgasse for the first time. When firefighters arrived just after 4 a.m., three cars were on fire. The fire was completely extinguished after an hour with a extinguishing unit and wearing breathing masks.
Cause still unclear
It is still unclear who or what is responsible for the mysterious fire. A lot of research is currently being done to find out the cause.
