Serial offenders at work? – Another child harassed by a stranger on the way to school

Date:

A man followed a girl on her way home in Vienna’s 13th district and spoke to her. In Ottakring and Hietzing, on the other hand, an unknown person tried to drag children into the car. Parents in western Vienna are alarmed. Police have stepped up their patrols around schools.

Is a serial killer at work here? And did he strike again? Another primary school student in western Vienna has been harassed by an unknown person. The girl boarded a bus outside her school on Speisinger Strasse on March 21 and was winked and smiled at by a stranger. When the student got off the bus, the middle-aged man followed her and asked her name.

The child then ran away. His mother filed a complaint and the school warned all parents. “We have discussed with all the children of the school how best to behave when talking to a stranger,” says the Vienna education department.

Several incidents since February
As reported, it is not the first serious incident of this type in recent times. In February, an unknown two children tried to lure into his van on the Flötzersteig. On the same day, he allegedly grabbed a girl’s arm. He was able to free himself and drive into a supermarket.

The executive confirmed further cases in Penzing and Ottakring. Two 11-year-olds were approached on their way to school and asked to get into a car. In the Ordeltpark, a perpetrator wanted to drag a boy by the arm. He just managed to escape.

Since then, the executive branch has expanded its patrol service (in uniform and in civilian clothes). Tip: educate children and report any incident (emergency call 133).
