A truck rammed into a group of people waiting at a bus stop in Tel Aviv on Sunday. About 35 victims were injured, some seriously. Police believe it was a targeted attack.
The incident took place in the north of the metropolis. According to the ynet news platform, many of the victims were retirees who were traveling. Some were trapped under the truck and had to be freed by emergency services. So six people are in serious condition.
“We got off the bus – and then the truck came towards us,” says an eyewitness. The truck driver was shot by police. He is suspected of deliberately bumping into the group.
Family members assume there is a medical problem
The exact circumstances are still under investigation: relatives of the driver stated that he suffered from heart disease. “This is not an attack, Rami is suffering from diseases and has lost control due to a medical problem,” said a family member.
