Putin announces an agreement to deploy tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus

Putin has defended that said agreement does not violate existing disarmament treaties and has stated that construction of a silo to place said weapons in Belarus will be completed by July 1.

This was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday agreement with Belarus for him deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in the territory of that country, which shares border with Ukraine.

“We’re not relinquishing them. The United States is not relinquishing them to its allies. We’re basically doing the same thing they did for decades,” he explained on public television.

Putin has defended that agreement does not conflict with existing disarmament treaties and has stated that by July 1, the construction of a silo to place said weapons in Belarus will be completed.

Ukraine has repeatedly accused Belarus of complicity in Russia’s ongoing military campaign, although Lukashenko is hiding behind the militarization of the borders by NATO.
