The repair bonus is very popular: since it was introduced almost a year ago in April 2022, it has already been claimed 525,000 times. Currently, 3,469 local businesses participate in the support program.
Due to the high demand, 50 million euros extra money will be made available this year, the Ministry of Climate and Energy has announced. By repairing devices, electronic waste should be avoided – so far the estimated 2600 tons, it is said.
One voucher per electronic device
Each repair voucher covers 50 percent of the repair costs and is worth a maximum of 200 euros. It is available at www.REPAIRBOnus.at. A voucher can be requested for each electrical appliance, which can be used for a repair and/or cost estimate. Once this voucher has been redeemed, you can request a new voucher and use it to repair another electrical or electronic device.
Smartphones and mobile phones are the most frequently repaired with over 225,000 repairs. Dishwashers (almost 45,000 times), washing machines (approximately 42,000), coffee machines (41,000) and laptops (23,000) were also regularly repaired.
130 million euros in 2026
Up to 2026, around €130 million from the EU Fund for Recovery and Resilience is available for the repair bonus.
