Trees as rescuers – ski bus crashes over a steep embankment in Tyrol

Mission for 40 Floriani disciples and several rescue workers on Monday in the Verwalltal in the Tyrolean district of Landeck! A ski bus had slipped on a curve and crashed over steep terrain. However, several trees have prevented worse.

The accident happened just before 4 p.m. The 31-year-old Afghan driver took the ski bus from the Verwalltal on the Verwallweg. On board were two passengers – a German woman (50) and her 10-year-old son. “In a sharp turn, the bus skidded on the snowy road and fell four meters from a slope,” police said.

Mother saved by firefighters
Luck for the three occupants: Trees caught behind the vehicle on the steep terrain. The driver took the boy out of the bus through a side window and onto the street. His mother, who was in the back, had to be rescued by the Floriani disciples. All three suffered minor injuries in the accident. The German and her son were taken to Zams Hospital.

40 men from the St. Anton, St. Jakob and Landeck fire brigades were deployed with six vehicles, the St. Anton mountain rescue service, an emergency doctor and two Red Cross ambulances. A towing service was also called to recover the bus.
