Police dog “Dionysos” did all the work after a bloody crime in Salzburg. After a man was stabbed in Henndorf (Flachgau), the sheepdog led investigators to the alleged killer, a 34-year-old Hungarian.
The animal nose from Upper Austria was requested during the morning manhunt around Henndorf. Before that, a man (42) died in the stairwell of an apartment building from multiple knife wounds. The alleged perpetrator had fled the dust. Criminals made “Dionysos” sniff a scent sample and he immediately started.
The dog and owner followed the suspected killer’s trail for a mile before “Dionysus” hit a vacation home. At that time, the house was already surrounded. Other police officers already suspected that the alleged perpetrator might be in the building.
Alleged knife killer confessed to the crime
The Cobra stormed the house and arrested the Hungarian (34) about four hours later. Detectives questioned the suspect for hours that same day. The man confessed to the crime. According to information from “Krone”, his motive should have been jealousy. It is probably an ex-partner of the victim’s partner. The Hungarian is said to have seen the victim, a 42-year-old Romanian, in the stairwell in the morning when he was on his way to work.
The alleged knife killer will be admitted to Puch-Urstein Prison later today. It will be decided within 48 hours whether the man will be detained.
