Two US military helicopters crashed Wednesday evening during a training mission in the US state of Kentucky. The condition of the crew members was initially unknown, the Fort Campbell army base announced on Thursday.
The 101st Airborne Division’s two Black Hawk helicopters reportedly crashed in Trigg County, northwest of Fort Campbell, in the evening. Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said on Twitter that fatalities were expected.
“Accident claimed several victims”
The US military base at Fort Campbell, the US military’s only air assault division, says it is investigating the incident. Airborne Division 101 wrote on Twitter that the accident claimed several lives, but did not go into details. “Right now, our focus is on the soldiers and their families,” the tweet read (above):
