Total of 24 missions – storm caused stress among Floriani disciples

Date:

A storm that swept through the Ländle at speeds of up to 80 km/h caused dozens of firefighters to deploy in Vorarlberg. Whether it concerned uprooted trees in the streets or loose roofs, the fire brigade had to turn out a total of 24 times to restore order and prevent worse.

The wind gusts of up to 80 km/h were heavy on Saturday evening: not only did the wind howl in attics and send everything flying that had not been nailed down in advance, more serious incidents also occurred due to the fierce winds. For example, the fire brigade in Satteins had to move: a flat roof had come loose from a single-family home. Parts of it flew into the neighboring house. The emergency services have made every effort to prevent worse and have covered the rest of the roof to be on the safe side.

A lot happened on the street too. In Zwischenwasser a mighty tree was uprooted – it promptly fell over the road. Firefighters spent hours removing the trunk and branches. A tree had also spread on the Rheintalautobahn, which protruded into the hard shoulder at Feldkirch. There were also traffic obstructions on the rails, an overhead line was temporarily restricted.

The fire brigade had to deploy a total of 24 times due to the storm.
