An amazing experience? Hardly likely! The unusual instructions for a child’s game led to protests from angry parents.
Ilse P. (Name changed by editors) leafed through the new circular of the Salzburg parish of St. Vitalis these days. One word on the children’s page of the magazine immediately caught her eye: it said “Mord-Photo”. “I thought I couldn’t see very well,” says the mother of two.
The parish letter contains instructions for a “photo rally”. Kids have to grab a camera or their mobile phone and take creative snapshots for certain categories. In addition to “scary photos”, “animal photos” and “forest photos”, there were also two more unusual suggestions – “dangerous photos” and “murder photos”. Ilse P. says: “What is that about please? Do my children have to deliberately put themselves in danger just for a picture? I won’t even talk about murder.”
She immediately contacted the authors of the parish letter and pastor Florian Bischof. “I didn’t feel like I was being taken seriously at all,” she says.
“Murder Photos” Became “Forgive Me”
To the “crown”, Bishop says they want to apologize for the matter. The two “photo categories” slipped into the final version of the letter – it shouldn’t have appeared that way. In the online version of the parish letter, the ‘murder photo’ has now become a ‘forgive me photo’. The “Dangerous” category no longer exists.
