Petersburg murder: – Followers of the suspects are now being attacked

Date:

The consequences of the murder of the Russian propagandist Vladlen Tatarsky in the metropolis of Saint Petersburg are increasingly felt in the lives of ordinary Russian citizens. Meanwhile, following the suspect Darya Trepova on social networks or being connected to her in any way can already have serious consequences. It is a testament to how charged the atmosphere is in society and a battle of extremes.

Volunteers and activists wanted to organize a food package for the 26-year-old after Trepowa’s arrest. Prison conditions in Russia are extremely bad. As Yelena Kondrakhina described to the medium “Rotonda”, she only asked a related organizational question in a chat.

Kondrachina emphasizes that she does not know Trepowa and does not follow her on social networks. But that didn’t matter – she was massively attacked by bots after her initiative. Unknown people published her address and threatened her with bad things, including rape.

It is suspected that the movement “Cyber Front Z”, which organized the evening with Tatarski, is behind it. He may also be involved Vladislav Pozdnyakov may have been the founder of the banned Russian men’s movement “Muschskoye gosudarstwo” – because he had previously publicly condemned Kondrachina on his channels.

Bots can do massive damage
In so-called social media, “bots” are computer programs that interact with users through the platform and pretend to be real people. The programs are becoming increasingly sophisticated and, if malicious, are among the top cyber threats of the decade.

On Twitter, the term “bot” is often used to describe accounts that, rather than being humans, are algorithms that can, say, fire off tons of posts — or even respond to what other users have written in the short message service.

Assassination attempt on Tatarski: was Trepova cheated?
On April 2, military correspondent Vladlen Tatarsky was killed in a cafe owned by Wagner boss Yevgeny Prigozhin. Dozens of people were also injured in the attack. Darya Trepova was arrested the next day.

According to Russian investigators, she would have given Tatarski a figure with an explosive, which was then detonated. In an interrogation video released by the Russian Interior Ministry, Trepova admitted that she actually presented the bust to Tatarsky. However, she did not admit that she had murder plans.

Her husband explained that his wife assumed the object was bugged to eavesdrop on Tatarski. Trepowa has been detained since April 4. She now has to answer for terrorism in court – if convicted, she faces life imprisonment.
