Fire alarm in the middle of Moscow on Wednesday evening: A fire has broken out in a building of the Russian Ministry of Defense. Videos online showed a thick black column of smoke in the center of the Russian capital.
According to Russian media reports, the flames were extinguished after a short time. According to initial findings, the fire broke out on the third floor of the former Alexandrovsk military academy.
Around 7:30 p.m. (local time), employees discovered smoke in the building. Shortly afterwards, the fire brigade was on the scene, reports the Interfax news agency, citing the Ministry of Defense.
The cause of the fire was a defect in an electrical line, reports the Tass national service. No one was injured in the incident.
