Investigations ended – suspected abuse in Lech: there are no charges

Date:

The investigation into the report of child abuse in a care institution in Lech am Arlberg has been completed. And one thing is certain: there will be no costs involved. Because the process is stopped.

At the beginning of February, the father of a three-year-old boy and the legal representative of the family made serious accusations against the care institution and one of its employees. The boy is said to have been sexually assaulted in the second week of January during a skiing holiday in the famous Vorarlberg ski area.

Boy ‘exposed to distressing experience’ according to psychotherapist
Because the boy was in poor health and a psychotherapist consulted by the family found that “during his care in Lech he was exposed to an experience that disturbed him and was perceived as an attack”, the father filed a complaint. The healthcare institution sharply rejected the allegations at all times.

No witness to a crime
The family lawyer initially assumed that there may have been a witness. However, that was not the case. The lawyer had already expected that the proceedings would be discontinued at the end of February. This has now worked: “After the investigation has been carried out, it cannot be assumed that the suspect committed the crime,” confirmed Heinz Rusch, spokesman for the Feldkirch prosecutor’s office, in a “standard” report.
