Social Security Fraud – Cashed in by Austria, lived in Germany

Date:

Tyrol authorities discovered a blatant case of social security fraud. A German woman (63) has received various support measures since 2016. And this despite the fact that she had already received alimony from her husband. Moreover, her main residence in Tyrol was only a deception.

Police investigation has shown that the 63-year-old, originally from Germany, settled in the Reutte district in 2016 and established her main residence there – at least on paper. She did not tell authorities that she was receiving money from her estranged husband.

Instead, she applied for support, such as housing assistance and heating subsidies.

“Apartment” used as a holiday home by relatives
“In this way, Deutsche was able to enrich itself with a five-figure sum in euros. “In addition, the subsidized housing was misused because the defendant’s real center of life was not in Tyrol, but in Germany,” the investigators say.

The apartment was also used alternately as a holiday home by her husband and her relatives.
