The Großlobming fire brigade in Styria was alerted shortly before 3 a.m. Despite the tight guard around the huge heaps of branches and leaves, unknown persons managed to light an Easter bonfire that had been prepared for Holy Saturday. The 20 firefighters worked for two hours until the operation was over, the fire service said.
In the municipality of Ruden (Völkermarkt district) in Carinthia, two Easter mounds were set on fire by unknown perpetrators on Saturday evening, according to police information, there were two fire brigades with a total of 40 firefighters at work.
Set fire to Easter pile with petrol bomb
An Easter heap on the Zuge Alm near Klagenfurt was even set on fire with a petrol bomb, the Klagenfurt professional fire brigade and the Kalvarienberg volunteer fire brigade extinguished the fire.
