Vyacheslav Volodin, a confidant of Russian President Vladimir Putin, proposed on Saturday to ban the International Criminal Court (ICC) in Russia. He wrote on Telegram that it was necessary to change Russian legislation to this end.
Volodin, the leader of the Russian lower house, advocates banning all activities of the criminal court in Russia and punishing anyone who cooperates with and supports the ICC.
In mid-March, the Hague-based ICC issued an arrest warrant against Putin on charges of war crimes related to the invasion of Ukraine. Moscow has called the arrest warrant outrageous, unacceptable and hostile.
