Fire devils were out for mischief in Hard (Vorarlberg) on Saturday night. Artificial grass carpets have been set on fire at cheese dairy Alma.
At nearly 1 a.m., the Floriani disciples were informed of a fire. Strangers had set fire to the outside of the Alma cheese factory. The arsonists had set fire to a pile of synthetic turf carpets. When the emergency services arrived on the scene, the chimney was already fully ablaze.
Dangerous firefighting
Because the carpets were close to the building, there was a high risk that the flames would spread to the facade. Fortunately, the fire brigade was just able to prevent this.
The Hard fire brigade was involved with six vehicles and 28 emergency services, the Höchst fire brigade with two vehicles and ten emergency services, the Red Cross with three vehicles and twelve emergency services and five patrols from the federal police.
