On the night of Saturday there was a fierce cellar fire in Vienna-Leopoldstadt, in which a total of three residents were injured, some of them seriously. A 30-year-old man was taken to hospital with burns and smoke inhalation.
According to Lukas Schauer, spokesman for the Viennese professional fire brigade, the fire broke out shortly after midnight for reasons that have not yet been clarified in the basement of an apartment building on Harkortstrasse. The basement may also have been used as living space.
