On Easter Monday, a tragedy took place on the Dachstein in Upper Austria. According to the first reports, a tourer fell 30 meters and died on the spot. Particularly tragic for the emergency services: the victim came from their own ranks.
Not everything has been clarified yet. According to current information, the accident happened in the so-called rim holes on the Dachstein Glacier. A 45-year-old touring rider, who was reportedly alone on the Randkluft via ferrata, slipped and fell 30 meters for still unclear reasons. He died in the accident.
The victim is said to be a 45-year-old mountain rescuer from Ramsau (Styria). Comrades had to look at the accident in the afternoon. Unfortunately, first aid measures and the rapid deployment of the rescue helicopter were of no avail.
