Tension in Linz after a family dinner on Easter Monday. An 82-year-old woman suddenly disappeared. A large-scale search lasted more than three hours.
A 44-year-old from Linz came to the police station in Kaarstrasse around 11:10 p.m. on Monday. He stated that his 82-year-old mother had died. He told officers his mother was still with him and the family for lunch at around 1 p.m. After the missing person was reported, a large-scale search was launched with several patrols, police dogs, the police boat and the police helicopter.
Dog unit also in action
Later, the rescue dog squadron was also called in. Shortly after the start of the search flight, the FLIR operator was able to observe a heat source with the thermal imager in the area of the “soldier’s cemetery at Petrinum” in a forest area. Police patrols were immediately radioed to the site by the helicopter crew.
Chilled but alive
Finally, shortly after 2 a.m., the woman was found in the area of the Way of the Cross below the Pösmayersteig, about 900 meters from her home address, apparently unharmed but lying in a ditch with hypothermia and recovered. After receiving first aid, she was taken to the Elisabethinen Order Clinic in Linz.
