Due to too much alcohol during Easter trips, the driving licenses of nine drivers in Burgenland are gone for a long time. 3,421 drivers closed an advertisement or an organ mandate because they drove too fast during the holidays.
At Easter 2022, five accidents with five injuries occurred in Burgenland. On this year’s balance sheet there is one less collision, but one more patient. In addition, a driver (52) from the district of Oberwart in Lafnitz, Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district (Stmk.), had hit a pedestrian when he wanted to take his car from a parking lot onto the provincial road. The passer-by (89) – he also comes from the Oberwart district – came to the hospital after first aid. According to the police, the driver of the car turned out to be slightly intoxicated during a check.
Eleven alcohol and four drug drivers
The inglorious leader for drunk driving was a driver in the Eisenstadt-Umwelt district on Good Friday. The 33-year-old had more than two promille in his blood! In total, the management arrested eleven alcohol drivers and four drivers for drug use. Nine driver’s licenses were immediately confiscated.
“Action sharp” against speed demons
“Our officials also carried out speed and distance measurements,” says Lieutenant Colonel Rudolf Ehrenhöfer, deputy chief of the state traffic service and chief of operations. Racers took out 3421 advertisements and organ mandates. At 152 km/h instead of the permitted 100, a speeding vehicle (65) was “flashed” between Steinbach and Pilgersdorf, Oberpullendorf district.
