The fallen Wagner mercenary is recruited at the docks and given an honorary funeral

Date:

In the Russian Republic of Mordovia, a Wagner mercenary who died in the war in Ukraine was buried with honors and glory. He had been noticed less gloriously before – because he was one of those fighters recruited in prison…

The deal is simple: if a prisoner serves six months in Wagner’s private army and survives, he will be released. “This is your chance to get out of here. Anyone who comes with me will be released or die, but will not end up behind bars again,” promised the leader of the notorious group, Yevgeny Prigozhin.

And even if you don’t survive, you can still die a “meaningful death” as Russian propaganda always likes to drum on the people – brainwashing at its best. An “example” of this is Kirill Dergachevwho was only 23 years old. According to Russian media, he died in mid-February not far from the heavily disputed Ukrainian city of Bakhmut. After his death he was awarded a medal for his bravery.

Criminal past
Dergachev had signed a contract with the Wagner group in October 2022. The last time he would have had contact with his parents was in December last year. He announced that he would return home in May.

In 2021, he was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison for attempted murder. He had tried to kill his former classmate with a knife. The motive was jealousy.

Before that he had problems with the law. For example, agents caught him stealing condoms, wallets and mobile phones. He also had to answer for driving under the influence and insulting police officers.
