After the serious accident with a German coach in Schladming last weekend, the bus driver (51) also died. The man succumbed to his injuries in a hospital in Schwarzach on Tuesday morning. A 31-year-old passenger was killed in the accident on Saturday evening. He was traveling with a polter group and the groom-to-be.
The accident happened at around 11:15 p.m. on Rohrmooser Landstraße (L722) on Saturday. The bus with 32 passengers from Lower Bavaria was on its way to Schladming. In the so-called Schlösselkehre, the vehicle left the road, apparently first rolled down the embankment, then rolled over several times and finally landed on the building of a blacksmith shop.
All help came too late for a 31-year-old prisoner, who was part of an eight-member polter group. He succumbed to his injuries on the spot. Several other people, including the bus driver, suffered serious injuries. On Tuesday morning, the doctors lost the battle to save the 51-year-old’s life.
Accident wreck not yet appraised
The technical assessment of the accident wreckage is still pending, police said. In 2017, a similar accident happened at the same place. At that moment a truck fell over the dike and landed on the forge. The driver of the truck was seriously injured and taken to hospital.
