Italy: many fall for 68 million holidaymakers

Date:

Record storm to “Bella Italia”! This year, more people than ever are going on holiday. Watch out for bizarre traps…

More guests are expected than our neighboring country has inhabitants. Believe it or not, this summer 68 million guests are expected at our 59 million southern neighbors. But in addition to the long-awaited Dolce Vita around pizza, vino, gelato and fresh seafood, bizarre punishments are also lurking. For example, on the picturesque Amalfi Coast, kissing in the car or wearing wooden slippers is prohibited due to noise pollution (see image).

10,000 euro fine for collecting shells
But even in the north of the country, threats of punishment bring head shaking and a loud “Mamma mia!” – in Milan it can cost up to 160 euros to cool off in the shadow of the imposing cathedral. However, in the famous lagoon city of Venice, feeding pigeons or seagulls can also be expensive: there is a fine of up to 450 euros. Be careful when collecting shells on the beach: in extreme cases, the export of shells and stones can be fined up to 10,000 euros.
