Resorting to vigilante justice – father hit grabs and ended up in court

Date:

The attack on his daughter in a shop in Kufstein, Tyrol, over the Christmas period was documented by a camera. The 37-year-old then went berserk and brutally assaulted the alleged sex offender in an underground car park. Now the father had to appear in court.

The December 8 case led to discussions about “vigilantes”: the suspect – a resident with a Turkish background – was with his daughter (9) in a Kufstein store. Afterwards, the girl told him that a man had grabbed her there between the legs. The father was alerted and surveillance footage was reviewed with the police informed.

Conclusion: The abuse and the frightened face of the 9-year-old were clearly recognizable. The 37-year-old had a concrete suspicion: The devil could be a man he knew briefly.

Dragged in the car to go to the police
He described as a witness: “He called me, said it was important and suggested a meeting in the underground car park.” There, the suspect showed a security photo on his mobile phone and the alleged payer confirmed that he was this man. “He then hit me five to ten times, including with his fist,” the witness explained. The suspect then dragged him into the car to drive to the police together. Before the eyes of the officers, there was another punch – “just because he suddenly wanted to run,” explained the 37-year-old.

Just “WhoaN”? The victim had a broken nose
He spoke of a “Watsch’n”, but a broken nose on the frail victim indicated that the defendant, who was a head taller and stronger, was tougher.

“Vigilante justice is of course not possible, but as a father of a daughter you have a certain understanding for these emotions,” defender Markus Abwerzger emphasized. The judge apparently shared this opinion and, despite two previous convictions, left it with a fine of 1440 euros.

The second defendant, who was present in the underground car park, was acquitted in this case. The verdict is already final. The alleged groper must answer to the subdistrict court in May.
