A good deed ended up in hospital for a 70-year-old from the district of Perg in Upper Austria on Wednesday morning. The man wanted to pick up an empty beer can and throw it away – and was run over by his own tractor.
Life can be unfair: a 70-year-old just wanted to help, now he is seriously injured in the accident hospital in Linz. On Wednesday morning he drove his tractor onto a meadow path in St. Thomas am Blenstein. He saw an empty beer can in the grass. The Perger wanted to pick them up and throw them away – then the accident happened.
Stuck under the tractor
The man fell unconscious when he got out of the tractor. Then the vehicle began to roll, trapping the 70-year-old in the hip.
Seriously injured in hospital
It was only after some time that a 28-year-old, also from the Perg district, drove by and discovered the accident. He immediately got into the tractor and drove it ahead in pieces to free the seriously injured man. After first aid, the 70-year-old was flown by rescue helicopter to the accident hospital in Linz.
