She was apparently in the blind spot when the garbage truck drove away: in Linz, a truck hit a pensioner who wanted to push her bicycle between the wall and the truck. The passenger of the garbage truck noticed the accident, but then everything happened.
A 38-year-old driver from Linz drove a garbage truck in the Kleinmünchen district of Linz on Wednesday afternoon. The 31-year-old passenger, also from Linz, emptied a garbage can and then brought it back to the house. It was then that he saw a woman on a bicycle leave the adjacent park and get off her bicycle behind the truck and drive between the garbage truck and the wall of the house.
In hospital with serious injuries
The 31-year-old then climbed onto the rear running board of the truck and the garbage truck drove off. Suddenly the passenger saw the woman lying behind or next to the truck. Apparently she was run over by the rear axle of the truck – the accident went unnoticed by the driver. Both the driver and the passenger immediately administered first aid. The 79-year-old from Linz was taken to the accident hospital with serious injuries.
