The innkeeper just wanted to advertise his Heurigen “Zua oidn Hex” in Neufeld an der Leitha. Therefore, he placed two perfectly fixed iron figures in the main street. After only nine days, they were both gone.
Roman Schmidt no longer understands Neufeld’s world. The innkeeper spent 800 euros to lure even more guests to his Heurigen, which is tucked away in the side street behind a gas station in Neufeld an der Leitha. A locksmith had made the two 170 centimeter tall witches from polished iron, which were stolen on the night of April 8 – after only nine days of life. Schmidt filed the screws after setting up, probably in a premonition.
“Or the thieves had a battery or a hacksaw with them. They have to come from the area,” says the restaurant owner, who immediately reported the incident to the police. Very convenient, the post is only 30 meters from the wine bar “Zua oidn Hex”.
Now the great guesswork begins as to who could have done such a thing. Professional metal thieves? villains? Or someone who was just bored?
“Perhaps someone accidentally observed something or even sees my witches somewhere,” says Schmidt, who wants to reward “useful information” in the style of “Aktenzeichen XY unsolved.” You can open your eyes and go on a witch hunt for some delicious Mangalitza goulash, right?
What bothers the landlord, who works day in and day out on the further development of his restaurant: “To make them stand out even more, I wanted to paint the two witches yellow. But the thieves were faster. Unfortunately, I got there not up to it.” In any case, the yellow color is at Tube!
