“Spring Rebellion” – climate protectors set up a training camp in Berlin

Date:

Civil disobedience and disruptive actions must be well coordinated and practiced. For this purpose, activists from the climate protection movement Extinction Rebellion, among others, have set up a tent camp in Berlin. This has even been approved by the city council.

In the tent camp in the Invalidenpark, Extinction Rebellion members want to put their heads together with other activists for a week, pass on their experiences and continue their studies. Information meetings and new protest actions are also planned. Not all of these have been approved.

Activist: “Everyone is welcome”
Extinction Rebellion spokeswoman Mia Sommer expects a decent number of participants: 500 to 1000 it should be, not everyone stays in the tented camp, which runs under the motto “Spring Rebellion”. “The urban community of Berlin is cordially invited to come to the camp,” Sommer told the Berliner Zeitung on Wednesday. According to the campaign’s website, climate defenders with children have the opportunity to get involved. Childcare options will be available.

Smear campaign at the FDP headquarters in Berlin
The group Last Generation is currently also active in Berlin. On Thursday, members of the movement smeared the entrance to the FDP federal office in the Berlin-Mitte district with an oily liquid. In addition, posters were put up with the inscription “FDP: Professionals in blocking, sticking to the internal combustion engine”.

Similar actions are said to have taken place in other places in Berlin, for example at the branches of the beverage manufacturer Coca Cola and the chemical company BASF. The last generation should team up with the group Extinction Rebellion, it was said.
