It is not possible to publicly report on all the achievements of Ukrainian arms production before and during the war, the president said. “But our entire state, all of society, has reason to be thankful for the professionals who protect our defense and industrial complex,” he said. Ukraine can now produce “everything from grenades to missiles, from artillery shells to drones”.
“Our actions will be strong. We prepare our people. And we are very much looking forward to the delivery of weapons that our partners have promised us,” said Zelenskyy. “We are bringing victory as close as possible.”
On EU membership: “We are fully prepared”
Zelenskyi also said in his video message that he has again spoken with government officials and parliament representatives about further steps towards closer ties with the European Union. All goals are achievable, he said with a view to the accession negotiations planned for this year. Ukraine will be integrated into all EU institutions. “And we get full membership. We are fully prepared,” he said. Ukraine has so far had candidate status. The start of accession negotiations or EU membership is not yet in sight.
