Governor congratulated on the birthday
For the past nine years, Kürner has lived in a Caritas dormitory in Linz. There, on her 111th birthday in December 2022, she was visited by Governor Thomas Stelzer, who brought her flowers and a Sachertorte. She joked with him back then, but also said she probably won’t be able to celebrate many birthdays anymore. “It is with regret that I learned about the death of Stefanie Kürner. My condolences go out to everyone who mourns her loss. Despite all the grief, we want to be an example for ourselves. Stefanie Kürner’s life should encourage us not to give up , especially in difficult times, but to find solutions together,” Stelzer said on Friday.
