Austria wishes Vienna as a city host for the 70th Eurovision Song Contest 2026. Or just said 34 percent of the country. This is at least the result of a current, representative study by the TQS Market Research Institute among 1000 people between 16 and 65 years old. The federal capital is therefore the top priority in the ESC preference of the country with Innsbruck in second place. The Tyrolean Metropolis is preferred with 11 percent of the respondents.
The fact that Vienna applies for the song competition is already explicitly mentioned in the red-pink government program. And the Senate of Innsbruck City also gave “green light” for the application.
Graz in 3rd place
In the survey, the Stockerlplatz in ESC-Grunst conquered the styrics capital Graz at 10 percent shortly behind Innsbruck-Die on Friday whether she will throw her hat in the song competition ring. In 4th place in the favorites of the public, however, there is the industrial metropolis and traffic connection of Wels, which comes in the race together with the State Capital Linz and for which 9 percent of the respondents can heat up.
ESC Fix not in Oberwart
The Burgenland -Metropolis of Oberwart has already made a decision against the application as a new HostCity 2026. After having contracted the advertising barrel for the local exhibition hall in advance, it was finally decided to make the somewhat larger cities move forward. After all, 2 percent of the respondents were still enthusiastic about a glamorous song match in the south of Burgenland.
29 percent it doesn’t matter
To be precise, there is actually another group of respondents in second place in the survey. 29 percent of the participants stated that they simply had no preference where the ESC-Tross 2026 went in Austria.
Everyone who makes the race is currently still open. Potential ESC host cities must submit their detailed documents to the ORF by July 4 at the latest. The decision about the location must be determined in mid -August. The cities are committed to an extensive confidentiality catalog. The final of the largest music competition takes place on 16 or 23, 2026.
