State of emergency in Vienna-Mariahilf on Sunday morning. As reported, right-wing and left-wing extremist groups are marching in front of the Rosa-Lila-Villa on Linke Wienzeile. Seven demos have been registered. Reason: The drag queen Candy Licious organizes a lecture for children in the house.
The police have been alerted and are on the scene in large numbers (the authority does not disclose the exact number of officers). The Linke Wienzeile will be closed from 07:00, the building will be largely secured with stair gates to prevent a “meeting of the warring parties”, a spokesperson for the management explains.
The police have not received any explicit calls for violence. But the mood can change quickly. The situation is already heated. On the same day, the Vienna Derby and other demos will take place in the city center.
