After the fatal attack on a jogger in Trentino, problem bear “Gaia”, also known by its abbreviation “JJ4”, was captured by hunters. The cause caused much debate – a shooting order issued after the incident was suspended by a court following criticism from animal protection groups.
The meeting with “Gaia” was fatal to the jogger Andrea Papi. The 26-year-old was mauled by the female brown bear on April 5. According to the Italian agency ANSA, the animal known as the problem bear has now been caught.
Provincial President Maurizio Fugatti wants to announce at a press conference on Tuesday what will happen to “Gaia”.
