This regulation, scheduled for July 2025, limits and regulates the amount of pollutant emissions that a new car can generate. The president of Navarre will demand a moratorium of one or two years to delay its entry into force.
The President of the Government of Navarra, María Chivite, is meeting today with a representative of the industry from the European Commission to ask for “flexibility” of the Euro 7 regulations allowing for the cessation of production of internal combustion engine vehicles. and pressure to the Volkswagen Navarra factory. In concrete terms, a moratorium of one or two years will be necessary to postpone the entry into force of this regulation.
Everything seems to indicate that on July 1, 2025 this new Euro 7 standard will come into force, which replaces the old Euro 6 standard, which has been in force since 2015 and was created to measure the amount of pollutant emissions that a new car is allowed to emit, limit and regulate. .
The meeting, which begins at 11 a.m., will also be attended by Volkswagen Navarra President Michael Hobusch and Automotive Cluster Association of Navarra (ACAN) President Roberto Lanaspa.
María Chivite will justify Navarra as “a compliant community” with the energy transition and sustainable mobility and therefore she will “ask for a more flexible application of Euro 7”.
