After a horror accident with a dead person (22) last year near Haiming in Tyrol and a few tall stories, a 28-year-old was now in court in Innsbruck. No one can or wants to remember how the horror crash happened. The Tyrolean must now be behind bars.
Tears fell on the wharf and on the audience seats in the packed courtroom. Many of the 22-year-old’s friends and relatives wanted to know why she had to die.
Short review: In July of the previous year, the local was on the B171 in the Ötztaler Achbrücke area shortly before 10:30 p.m. when a heavy pick-up truck with two men (28, 34) crashed into her small Audi. Any help came too late for the 22-year-old.
Men made up fairy tales about taxi drivers
What happened next made headlines and shook heads: The drunken men claimed they had hired a taxi driver to drive their pickup truck. He ran after the crash. After the statement turned out to be a lie, they blamed each other, police said. However, traces on the airbag showed that the 28-year-old was the driver.
The course of the accident is unclear to the defenders
The suspect could not or would not recall the course of the accident in court on Wednesday. With his boss, he probably learned several bottles of beer in the company and then wanted to drive home. Then there was the tragic accident, the course of which, at least according to lawyer Hubert Stanglechner, could not be clarified by the trial. “Perhaps the woman was distracted by the cell phone and ended up in the oncoming lane ahead of time.”
Don’t judge definitively yet
However, the judge was convinced that the 28-year-old, who had about 1.4 promille in his blood, was responsible for the grossly negligent murder. No final verdict: Twelve months in prison!
