British Border Police have fished out more than a ton of cocaine from the Channel. As the Home Office in London said on Twitter on Thursday, emergency services seized the drugs on Wednesday after police received information about packages floating in the water.
These were collected and the contents eventually identified as cocaine in Dover harbour.
Two tons of cocaine packed in packets washed up on the French coast of Normandy. According to the latest statistics from the UK Home Office, a total of 18.8 tonnes of cocaine was seized in England and Wales in the 12 months to March 2022, 68 per cent more than in the previous year.
The amount of ketamine seized also reached a record high of 1.9 tons (+884 percent).
