The American actor accidentally shot Halyna Hutchins while filming in New Mexico. That same Thursday, the tape’s producer resumed shooting “Rust” in Montana.
The New Mexico State Department has dropped manslaughter charges against actor Alec Baldwin for the death of cameraman Halyna Hutchins on the set of the film “Rust”, his lawyers reported to the media on Thursday.
“We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident,” attorneys Luke Nikas and Alex Spiro said in a statement. Although there is no confirmation from the prosecution, the charges are expected to be dropped in the coming hours.
That same Thursday, the film’s production company resumed shooting “Rust” in Montana, 18 months after the fatal accident.
Hutchins died on October 21, 2021 from the gunshot wounds he received while Baldwin was rehearsing while filming “Rust” in New Mexico (USA) with a gun that should have been a blank but was loaded. The New Mexico State Attorney’s Office filed two involuntary manslaughter charges against the interpreter in January over the death of the cameraman.
Last month, the film’s production company and New Mexico authorities reached an agreement paying the company a $100,000 fine for security flaws in the footage found during the investigation.
Baldwin has always denied any responsibility for the tragedy.
