The conservative American broadcaster Fox News and its moderator Tucker Carlson, who spread conspiracy myths and represent far-right views, are going their separate ways in the future. Carlson’s last broadcast was on Friday, Fox News announced Monday, thanking the 53-year-old for his work. Fox News gave no reason for the split.
The news comes just under a week after media group Fox reached an out-of-court settlement with voting machine manufacturer Dominion for damages of 787.5 million dollars (about 714 million euros). Dominion had filed a lawsuit because Fox News had spread reports of alleged tampering with voting machines in the 2020 presidential election.
Trump supporters – on camera
Carlson and his highly acclaimed daily evening show “Tucker Carlson Tonight” were also central to the process. Considered one of the channel’s most well-known personalities, Carlson always makes headlines. The moderator is known for spreading conspiracy stories and blatant hoaxes and incitement against minorities. The talk show host also appears on his show as a supporter of former US President Donald Trump.
Text messages from the moderator surrounding the Dominion trial became public. Carlson reportedly wrote to a staffer two months after the 2020 presidential election, “We are very, very close to ignoring Trump most nights. I really can’t wait. I hate him passionately.” The new revelations further question presenter Carlson’s credibility.

Recently, there was also outrage that Carlson showed some selected footage from the January 6, 2021 storming of the Capitol on his program and, in line with Trump, claimed that only peaceful protesters were out at the time.
