An excavator operator had a serious accident on his way to lunch on Tuesday. He had cleared a snow slope with his walking excavator. When he got out of the vehicle, disaster took its course.
A 28-year-old Austrian was Tuesday morning in Kühtai busy with a walking excavator, a so-called “spider”, clearing snow from a slope.
Around noon, the excavator driver wanted to cross the snow slope to his car, which was parked about 20 meters below. The driver of the excavator slipped on the steep slope of about 40 degrees and then, falling over several times, fell onto the roadway.
The 28-year-old suffered serious injuries in this fall and was rescued by his colleagues. After first aid from the Mötz rescue team and the emergency doctor, the rescue helicopter flew the seriously injured to the clinic in Innsbruck.
