You’ve done it again! 15 activists from the last generation of Austria blocked a motorway exit from the city of Linz around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.
In Linz nothing went on the city autobahn towards the center. Climate stickers blocked the Wiener Strasse exit shortly after 8 a.m. Later, five demonstrators even glued themselves to the road, causing even more chaos in the streets.
“I don’t see any other solution”
With their actions, the climate activists want to push the speed limit on domestic highways to 100. Your actions are no longer undisputed, even among environmentalists. “I don’t like to stay on the street, and I don’t like to annoy so many people. But I don’t know any other solution,” a social worker explained why she resisted peacefully. It is important to her that maximum safety is guaranteed. For example, a lane is always chosen where no one gets stuck and the lane can be cleared in an emergency.
Scientific support
In Linz, Omas against the Right supported the campaign with a poster. “We grandmothers against the right are on the side of these young people. It’s sad enough that they have to organize such persistent campaigns to make themselves heard,” said one pensioner. Scientists are also involved: “As a chemist, I know the connections and the urgency of measures – just like thousands of my colleagues. All politicians appreciate and use the technological developments of science, but when it comes to climate protection, the experts are ignored,” says JKU professor Wolfgang Schöfberger.
There were many traffic jams and handicaps. The police immediately took action to stop the action. The highway exit was cleared around 8:45 a.m.
