House searches seized a ton of cannabis herb in Vienna and 60 kilos in Lower Austria. For example, the Viennese criminal investigation department achieved great success in the fight against drug-related crime. A total of thirteen arrests have been made, according to the police.

After extensive investigations, the Bertalan group from the drug crime investigation area was able to seize more than a ton of cannabis in Vienna and Lower Austria last Friday. According to the Viennese police, the criminal group had been engaged in a highly professional cultivation and distribution of cannabis in Austria for several years.

1000 hemp plants seized
South of Vienna, in two halls with a total area of ​​approximately 2000 m², the herbal cannabis was professionally harvested, packaged, portioned and then distributed. Another plantation was also discovered in an apartment in Vienna-Brigittenau. Nearly 1,000 plants were seized by officials at all locations. The two main suspects are a 53-year-old Austrian and a 29-year-old Czech.

Thirteen suspects arrested
The two men had several false driver’s licenses and passports. The police were also able to seize cash and gold ducats worth almost 300,000 euros. A total of 17 homes and vehicles were searched and 13 people were arrested. These would be Austrians, Croats, Serbs and Czechs.
