In the Spanish state, the entity achieved a net profit of 541 million euros, 9.5% less than a year earlier, after paying 225 million in extraordinary tax to the bank.
Between January and March 2023, BBVA achieved an attributable net profit of EUR 1,846 million, 39.4% more than in the same period of the previous year, thanks to the increase in revenues and despite the EUR 225 million allocated to cover the exceptional tax on banks in the Spanish state.
In Spain, the entity earned EUR 541 million, 9.5% less than a year earlier, due to the impact of the aforementioned extraordinary tax, with a loan portfolio down 1.2% to EUR 169,215 million and deposits down 3.1% , to 213,311 million.
For another quarter, Mexico was the subsidiary that contributed the most profit to the Group, more than double that of Spain, at EUR 1,285 million, mainly thanks to the higher revenues it achieved thanks to the increase of more than 13% recorded by credits .
