At the age of 19, Eva decided to become a soldier. She went through basic military service with challenges, tears and despair. On the occasion of today’s “Girls’ Day”, she speaks in the “Krone” about her diary, sexual harassment and the dark side of the Austrian army.
The Lower Austrian served two years from 2006 and passed the paramedic training with flying colors. She has now completed two studies in education and addiction care. Now, at the age of 35, she mustered up the courage and published her Diary of a Soldier. She describes the ups and downs in a moving, funny, but also oppressive way. From the rigors of basic training to the “monotony of the relief mission”. Although she was only 1.60 meters tall and weighed 50 kilos, the petite-looking Eva carried the 40 (!) kilo heavy backpack with combat gear and kept pace with the men!
